Finance Ministry wants to raise minimum vodka, cognac price Jan 1

MOSCOW, Oct 16 (PRIME) -- The Finance Ministry has suggested raising the minimum retail price for vodka, cognac and brandy from January 1 following rising inflation, production costs and the excise duty, according to a statement published on the website for legal acts on Monday.

The minimum price per 0.5-liter bottle of vodka can increase to 299 rubles from 281 rubles, for the same volume of cognac to 556 rubles from 517 rubles, for brandy to 403 rubles from 375 rubles.

The ministry also suggested setting the minimum price for rum at 403 rubles per 0.5 liter.
